Bandra Worli Sea Link: Now Open

The much awaited infrastructure project of Mumbai the Bandra Worli Sea Link is now open to the public. It was inaugurated by the Congress President Sonia Gandhi today. Its a good 5 KM stretch over the sea, and for sure a great ride. We will have to pay Rupees 50 as tax every time we are using this sea link. HCC the company who has built this sea link can take toll for 30 years to recover its cost. The total cost in cured to build this sea link is over Rupees 1,634-crore ($16.34 billion). The bridge has surpassed all other projects of the state-run MSRDC in terms of its sheer beauty, grandeur and the attention it has grabbed from the whole country in the past few months.

Amul: The taste of India

image001We all have heard this line time and again for years. Amul is turning 60 this year and is still going rock solid. The amount of market capitalization it has the brand image it carries and a perfect positioning among its consumer segment are all most important reasons for Amul to be successful even today. The good part is that Amul is ensuring that its changing itself to address its evolving consumer base. The new advertising campaign, the new brand image and many other initiatives the company plans to take in coming months will surely give Amul that leading edge.

Amul has recently conducted a market survey and have made some very strategic decisions on how well can they position their offerings to a wider consumer base.

So its time to 'chill your dil' the new Amul commercial…..

Movie Review: New York

***, A very nice subject to make a movie, and yes a great job in making one. Everyone has done a good job. The songs are nice and the storyline goes along very well. The movie is all about how life changes for people in United States post 9/11.

And the fact says its been a tough time for as many as 1300 people who were illegally detained. The authorities "FBI" (Federal Beaure of Investigation) were literally picking up people on a very stupid line of thought and it was the WTC (World Trade Center). Be it a drawing, or a project report you made on WTC, or some photo you took of WTC. I mean come on guys you claim to be the best in business and even then you make such goof up. This was not enough for them because after taking these people into custody FBI has torched or if I may use the word brutally torched 1300+ people for over nine months only to understand that none of them was by any means not involved in the WTC attacks.

This is no brain er that AlQaida the master mind for these attacks would not let it's planner stroll the streets of United States after the attacks and get them caught so easily. I mean come on guys you got to have this much brains. The most sad part of the story or who knows the reality is that some people might have taken the route of terrorism to teach U.S a lesson. There are reports that most of these people even today are not able to come over the touchier they had for nine months. Their lives changed completely no company is considering hiring them for job no social life and the scare of being picked up again with which they have to live for the rest of their lives. Eventually some questions that I would like to ask the U.S authorities is who is responsible for this ? would the U.S authorities take care of these people can they give them back their lost dignity and respect ?

Imagine to what extent can the U.S authorities go to keep their country safe and why on earth do they stop Indian from taking any preventive step or even a after step for those n number of terrorist attacks that we have faced for all these years. If one attack on U.S is a good enough reason for them to trigger a war is it not correct if India raises its concern and does something for security of its people. Why does U.S have to intervene in all matters of India ?

Mumbai’s wet again

The first showers of the season have finally arrived in Mumbai and as always its small swimming pools all over. It’s definitely a respite for every one and specially for the farming areas around Mumbai. Like every year this time around we will have to juggle our ways around pot holes and man holes.

Again coming from our patent source of Information www.rediff.com are some photos of Mumbai getting its first bath of the year.

No Exam

The new government, new ministry, new reforms and everything that you can think of is new in the air these days (including Swine Flue). One such new thing that I came across was the a proposition from our HRD minister Kapil Sibal is about not conducting the class 10 board exam. Sounds crazy right!!!

Another proposition that is seen in his statement is of unifying all state boards and have one central board. This is definitely a good thought appreciate this. Students can decide which university they want to join for their educations.

Sounds a great news but on the contrary this may not be a good idea as the value of this exam and probably this is a the best way in which students can know where they stand. This is still under discussion but who know this could soon become a rule. This is India anything is possible.

Why cant you...

A puzzle, as it has always been for me, why is that everyone always is unhappy, worried complains about that one characteristic of an individual. For instance me, I get to hear from the whole world that I am forgetful, i am not very careful, or i do not take things very seriously and what not that falls in the same bracket.

Many times i keep wondering whys is it that one such characteristic is lookup or focused so much that other qualities are just left unnoticed. And as far as every species on this planet, I believe every one has some or the other drawback or a bad quality but at the same time every one is gifted with some good quality be it a bird or a fish or a tiger and deer each one has something great but is accompanied with that one sad characteristic that gets it into trouble. A deer no matter how good it is in running is still chased by a leopard or a bird how sad in looks still can fly like no other.

So why can't we accept that one bad characteristic of an individual and be happy about the remaining.

Book Review: What the customer wants you to know

book

Finally I could write this post after I finished reading this book, suggested by my manager. Its a good book specially if you are part of sales or the business development team. The new titled “VAS”-Value Creation Selling as a concept is good and nicely explained. The start to the book is very nice, it gets us involved into the book right at the start. Buts yes some where in between the whole message starts to dilute. Overall many things to learn. Implementing these changes will definitely be the thing to watch out for.

Heartfelt Condolences

My heartfelt condolences to all the families who have lost their loved ones in the Air France plane crash. It was a very sad incidence that a plane just went missing over the Atlantic ocean.

With bodies of those passengers are now surfacing and the intensified search for planes voice data recorder and the black box should help us ravel the mysterious crash. Air France Flight 447 disappeared on Sunday with 228 people on board and officials believe there were no survivors. Several structural parts of the Airbus 330 have also been recovered at the crash location, where Flight 447 sent a burst of messages complaining of electrical problems and loss of cabin pressure.

Bandra Worli Sea Link an Engineering Masterpiece

Since its day 1 the Bandra Worli sea link is making news. Well, now its nearing its big day. This sea link will open for traffic on 16th June 2009. This engineering master piece will provide a great drive for all commuters. Most important of all this sea link will reduce the runtime by a woofing 45 minutes ( as per Mumbai standards 45 minutes is a very big time save). I am dying to hit this road at the earliest. You can get a good glimpse of this bridge from Bandstand.

Some latest pictures of this bridge:

But its not Google…

Flaunted as the next big thing by Microsoft, Bing is launched as a competing search engine by Microsoft. Needless to say if its a Microsoft product the user interface has to be cool. Using bing for searching the internet will be the real test for this new search engine. Some people say its good, but yes its still in beta so things would be very clear only when we see this search engine operating in a complete live environment. But for now its definitely a thing to watch out for. :)
