Marathi Bana

Yesterday I watched a marathi theater show called as Marathi Bana. It was a very nice performance by over 125 artists. The entire show is about the traditional marathi culture that is fading in lights of the emerging western culture. The director and main anchor Ashok Hande lead the performance from the front. After the show is over you come out thrilled and kind of awakened about certain facts of life that we just do not consider.

A must watch for every individual who wants to see some energy filled performance.

And that is why I succeed.

I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career.
I've lost almost 300 games.
Twenty-six times I've been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed.
I've failed over and over and over again in my life.
And that is why I succeed.

Tale of two cities who are a world apart from eachother

If you really want to see how things are a world apart from each other the best place is to live in Mumbai and Pune for about 2 years in each city. I was one of those fortunate individual on this plant to experience the best and the worst of both worlds. I came to Mumbai when I was in 5th Class. Stayed there for till i was 26 years old.

Then came the first time opportunity for me to live outside the city of Mumbai. I had to come to Pune to join my new company. And from that day till today I am thinking why are these two cities so different from each other. Be it the transport system, the people, the attitude the food the climate .... and the list is just endless. I got a taste of this different attitude on the very first day when I landed in Pune. For someone who has lived in Mumbai for years, Pune initially makes them feel very much out of place. Gradually when you start living in Pune you start accepting things here.
About a decade ago Pune was a very small city with limited number of people. With the incoming IT industry boom came the face lift era for Pune. Some of the best in business software companies decided to open shops in the outskirts of Pune. With this many budding software professionals started coming to this city. This is still on and I am one such example. The problem started seeing up only when the ratio in which people increased in the city, Pune did not gear itself the accommodate this change. This emerged as one of the basic unanswered question for almost everyone.

The same story applies a little bit to Mumbai as well. With the number of people flowing in the city, infrastructure and other facilities are just never sufficient for the people here. A research says that daily an average 350 new families come to Mumbai. Just imagine the rush.

These two cities teach you a lot of things and gradually you start accepting things the way they happen here.

The never ending to do list

Every individual on this planet makes a list of things that he or she wants to do in their life time. Forget lifetime for any working person, the to do list just piles up day by day. There are number of software tools that help you manage your to do list. But even then the problems always is far from being solved. I am no exception to this problem. The only reason I am writing here on this topic is to share some small points that I have used and they are helping me to do things that are there on my to do list.

1. Always have a diary beside you and list down everything that you want to do on that day.
2. Every time you finish doing something ensure that you tick mark that task as done.
3. Every morning look at your to do list and take up the most difficult work first.
4. Feel good about the fact that you have completed a task every time you finish one.

This is just the beginning as soon as I get some good pointers I will surely update this post.

Summer 2007

Yesterday, I watched this movie "Summer of 2007". It was a very nice movie that I have watched for quite some time now. The story revolves around 5 medical students from a leading medical college. From the city life these students have to take up a month long medical assignment in the rural villages of maharashtra. When these students start living here in this village they come face to face with a problem that these villagers are battling for few years now. The problem of farmers committing suicides for the inability to pay back the loans. The sahukars who lend money to these farmers at a very high interest rate make life miserable for these farmers. The interest rate charged to these farmers is as high as 40%.( Will we ever imagine taking any loan at an interest rate of 40%). After watching this movie atleast my eyes have opened to the life of a poor common man of this country. One very important thing shown in the movie is the concept of micro finance. This scheme that would definately bring down this rate of suicides by the farmers. For this country to grow and overcome all its problems one very basic change is required and that is corruption and inappropriate use of power has to stop.

When i was in 3rd class

Last weekend I was in Bengaluru (the IT capital of India) to say good bye to Jui who is going to be in Bengaluru for the next one year for her MBA. During our stay I got a chance to visit our old home. The place where we stayed for over three years when dad was working with the Indian Airforce. It is this house from where i faintly remember my childhood days.

Narsiman uncle and me, we had gone there to find address of our neighbors at that time. We reached near the house and in a flash i recollected that this was the house. The open space in front of the house the railway track that was behind the house. For some time I was just roaming all around the place. I went in side the house and I could see the showcase right in front of me. I remember my birthday was celebrated here. I called up dad and told him everything about how the place is now what all things have come up in the vicinity etc. i could guess from his voice he was very happy.
