Apologize for going into a sleeping more for mode than 15 days. Well it was just shear laziness and nothing else that stopped me from writing. Last week I was in Mumbai, and after about 6 months, I went with dad to Dahanu. Thinking whats this now right ?.
To introduce Dahanu, its a small village about 130 KM from Mumbai. Its a group of about 10 to 15 small villages. Here My Dad along with one of his friend Mr. Pratap runs a residential school for children around this region. We have over 80 children who stay here in school. Their parents are daily wage workers. Most of the time these people take their children from school to work along with them for the only reason that they could earn some 50 Rupees more. Many times we have to go around in these villages and explain these people that how important it is for the children to learn and go to school. People here in this region are so illiterate and poor that they have literally not money for anything. One thing that caught my attention was that there were no birds seen around at all. After asking the locals I got to know that people there kill birds and eat them if they do not get food. After spending some time with the children I realized that it was very sad state in which they are living there life. We keep cribbing about many small small things here. But when we see how they live, I feel our problems are nothing in front of theirs.
We realize that all the claims that government makes to show that how much support they give to these people is so very false and not true. We as fellow Indians have to help them come up in life otherwise the world will be like that for them ever.The most basic thing that they need is education and they are deprived of that completely.
