An unusual time pass

Here I am sitting at the Internet cafe near Kabutar Khana (Dadar: People who know Mumbai will know where I am).

You don't do something like this always like you are roaming on the roads of Mumbai trying to figure out what to do for the next one hour till my mom and sis finish their shopping. [ladies shopping so I am not going to look at the watch] :)

So coming back, to spend some time the best bet for me is Crossword or Odessey but :( none of these stores were around. Finally i saw a couple of wada paw sellers. ow this is heaven. Had a bhaji pav and started walking straight on the roads and kept walking until I came across "Sharda Ashram Vidya Mandir" [Let's see what clicks to your mind when I say this name]. This the school where Sachin Tendulkar did his schooling. He and Vinod Kambli were players of this school's cricket team. Looking at the children I wounder, many times they might be feeling proud of Sachin the little master.

The beast is in the air

The European aircraft manufacturing giant "Airbus" has rolled out 13 A380 aircrafts till date. Recently Qantas Airways of Australia and Emirates Airlines took home their A380 aircrafts. In all for now these 13 beasts are flying across different continents carrying thousands of passengers.

I am sure for every one who fly's in the A380 its a dream come true moment.

For now its just the commercial jet liner series that's flying, but in the coming years we will see the freighter version of this beast, which will carry more cargo per flight at a cheaper cost.Companies like FedEx and UPS have already placed orders for this one.

Airbus for now has 198 confirmed orders for these jumbo aircrafts. Surely in the coming years we are going to witness these beasts flying all over our planet.

Dream come true

Today every Indian is feeling proud about the success of Slumdog Millionaire. The movie bagged 8 Oscars and the total awards tally for this movie now stands at an astonishing 108. The movie surely is a master piece to watch. More than anything it brings us face to face with reality.

It would be very unfair of me if I do not mention anything about A.R.Rehman the music maestro who had a share of 2 Oscars for the film.

In this glitters of Slumdog, there was another Indian movie called SmilePinky which also won the Oscar for the best documentary film.

We should do this

Every now and then when we travel along on the roads we fail to realize that there is so much that we can do to save ourselves and our future. Global warming, vanishing petrol and gas reserves, dirty surroundings, child begging and the list goes on piling up.

What is that we can do to reduce this shooting up problem? Actually we all can do lots

1. Every time we stop at the signal and the red signal is going to last for 60 seconds or more switch off your cars or bikes engine.

2. Please please please don't give anything to children who are begging on the streets (no leftover food, no money at all). By giving this we are not solving their problem but actually we are are making them more handicapped.

3. Ensure one thing that every time you have a chocolate, ice-cream, lays you do not throw the wrapping on the road. Do we throw like this in our house ?

I am proud to follow these points.. Are you ?

Some disconnected thoughts

After some busy looking days comes this relaxing weekend. Not relaxing actually but yes doing something other than work. Thought of putting down some really unrelated points that are running through my head as I type this...

With the realization of the amount of interest that I have paid on my home loan. I have started running from pillar to post to save this free flowing river of money. I hope to see some results in the coming weeks.

Planning to start a few things from this Monday. [ I would not write about this until I do those things].

Last two days got a chance to drive freely on empty roads. This is one thing that I love. Nice music and me driving alone.

Going back to office on Monday to finish a heavy proposal for our customer by Thursday.[This is one of those proposals where I have to actually write down most of the stuff]

Started reading a new book "How to improve your brain power" [I think its time for me to seriously do something about my habit of forgetting things.]

Our house in Nerul is now looking very pretty with a new color, and some changes in the architecture of the house.

Some day in this year want to buy a new telescope. I love sky gazing so want to save some money and buy the telescope at the earliest.

Cant get more disconnected than this as of now....

Books Books Books

Since my childhood I have always hated books more than anything. I was always a very good listener but never a good reader. I use to hear from others about what they are reading and then use to talk about this in front of other people.Giving a false impression to them that i just love books. :) [Its all about marketing yourself]

Some where during my MBA days, Vishu [My best friend] gave me a book to read "Five Point Someone". Surprisingly I read the whole book. And finally I could proudly say to myself that yes I have read one book completely from first page to the last. Thanks to Chetan Bhagat, the author to write such good book. After that I some how managed to keep my habit alive but the second complete reading came only a year later with Chetan Bhagats second book "One night @ the call center". Not many people liked the book, but I loved that one. And since then i have managed to keep this habit alive. For the past year and half, I have read a lot of books. It may not be a great thing but for me it's an achievement. :) Just a summary of the books that I have read so far.

8. Three mistakes of my life
9. Who moved my cheese [Not actually a book but it still increases my count :)]

With the children

Apologize for going into a sleeping more for mode than 15 days. Well it was just shear laziness and nothing else that stopped me from writing. Last week I was in Mumbai, and after about 6 months, I went with dad to Dahanu. Thinking whats this now right ?.

To introduce Dahanu, its a small village about 130 KM from Mumbai. Its a group of about 10 to 15 small villages. Here My Dad along with one of his friend Mr. Pratap runs a residential school for children around this region. We have over 80 children who stay here in school. Their parents are daily wage workers. Most of the time these people take their children from school to work along with them for the only reason that they could earn some 50 Rupees more. Many times we have to go around in these villages and explain these people that how important it is for the children to learn and go to school. People here in this region are so illiterate and poor that they have literally not money for anything. One thing that caught my attention was that there were no birds seen around at all. After asking the locals I got to know that people there kill birds and eat them if they do not get food. After spending some time with the children I realized that it was very sad state in which they are living there life. We keep cribbing about many small small things here. But when we see how they live, I feel our problems are nothing in front of theirs.

We realize that all the claims that government makes to show that how much support they give to these people is so very false and not true. We as fellow Indians have to help them come up in life otherwise the world will be like that for them ever. The most basic thing that they need is education and they are deprived of that completely.
